Ceramic Coating · Gilbert & the East Valley

Glass-like gloss. Years of protection. Water that beads and walks off.

Professional ceramic coating from Wrap Sesh AZ — a hydrophobic, UV-resistant layer that locks in shine, makes washes faster, and pairs cleanly with paint protection film and vinyl wraps. Installed by certified technicians with 10+ years in the vinyl and PPF trade.

What ceramic coating actually does

A clear, semi-permanent shield over your paint.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to your vehicle's clear coat and cures into a hard, glass-like layer. Once it's on, contaminants ride on top of the coating instead of soaking into the paint. You see it most clearly the first time it rains — water beads up tight, sheets off the panel, and takes road grime with it.

Coatings protect against UV oxidation (the Arizona sun fades unprotected paint fast), bird droppings, tree sap, hard-water spots, brake dust, and the kind of light marring that adds up over months of dust and washes. The hydrophobic surface also means your maintenance washes go from a 90-minute job to a rinse-and-dry — most of the contamination never bonded in the first place.

What ceramic coating is not

Honesty matters here. Ceramic does not stop rock chips. It is not a force field against gravel kicked up on the 60 or the 202 — that's a job for paint protection film. Coatings also don't prevent deeper scratches from car-wash brushes or careless wiping. Think of ceramic as the chemistry layer, PPF as the physical-impact layer. The cars that get the most out of either treatment usually get both.

Durability tiers

Pick the coating that matches how long you'll keep the car.

Coatings are rated in years of useful life. The longer-life formulations cost more, take longer to apply, and reward you with thicker hydrophobic behavior and more forgiving maintenance windows. We'll talk through the options when you bring the vehicle in for a quote.

1/3

Entry · 1–2 year coating

A real ceramic, applied properly, for owners who plan to trade or sell within a couple of years. Adds gloss, beads water, simplifies maintenance.

  • Single-stage prep wash & decon
  • Light paint correction as needed
  • Hydrophobic finish
  • UV protection
1 to 2 days
2/3

Mid · 3–5 year coating

Our most-requested tier. The right answer for a daily driver you plan to keep, or a weekend car that lives outside. Pairs naturally with window tint.

  • Two-stage paint correction
  • Thicker hydrophobic layer
  • Wheel-face and trim options
  • Glass coating add-on available
2 to 4 days
3/3

Pro · 7–9 year coating

The longest-life option, for show cars, exotics, and owners who want one-and-done protection. Most often paired with full-vehicle PPF underneath.

  • Multi-stage correction
  • Maximum hydrophobic depth
  • Layer over PPF available
  • Annual maintenance check-in
3 to 5 days
Why pair with PPF or a wrap

Coatings handle the chemistry. Film handles the impact.

Wrap Sesh AZ has been doing vinyl wraps, custom graphics, and clear bra since 2016, so we plan ceramic jobs with the rest of the package in mind. PPF goes down first on impact-prone panels — front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, rocker panels. Ceramic then layers across the whole vehicle, including over the PPF, so the entire surface beads water and resists UV at the same rate.

On a vinyl-wrapped car, ceramic protects the wrap itself — easier washes, less staining from contaminants, and a noticeable lift in gloss on satin and matte finishes. Co-owner Michael Shedd is a certified mechanic with more than a decade in vinyl and 14+ years in automotive; he and Jessica Bonifacio sequence the work so coatings, film, and film-over-wrap all play together.

What ceramic coating delivers

The numbers behind the gloss.

Durability

Up to 9 years

Pro-tier coatings carry useful-life ratings out to 7–9 years with proper maintenance washes. Entry and mid tiers cover 1–5.

Hydrophobicity

105°+ contact angle

Water beads tighter on a fresh ceramic surface, sheets off panels with less drying effort, and carries dust and dirt with it.

Gloss boost

Mirror-deep finish

After correction and coating, paint reads deeper and clearer. The same color looks like a different car in direct sun.

UV resistance

Arizona-grade protection

Engineered to slow UV oxidation — the leading cause of paint fade on cars that live outside in the East Valley sun.

Wash time

Roughly half the work

Maintenance washes on a coated car are faster. Most road grime never bonds, so a rinse, two-bucket wash, and dry is all it takes.

Resale

Paint stays sellable

A coated vehicle holds its finish better through years of sun, washes, and minor contamination — paint condition you can show off when it's time to trade.

Ceramic coating · FAQ

Questions we get most often.

How is ceramic coating different from wax or a sealant?
Wax and sealants sit on top of the paint and wash off over weeks or months. A ceramic coating chemically bonds with the clear coat and cures into a hard layer that lasts years. The hydrophobic behavior, gloss, and UV resistance you get from a real coating are on a different scale than what wax can do.
Will ceramic coating stop rock chips?
No — and any shop that tells you it will is overselling. Ceramic is a chemical protection layer. For physical impact protection on the front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, and rockers, you want paint protection film (clear bra). Many of our customers get PPF on the high-impact panels and ceramic coating across the whole vehicle.
Do I need paint correction before the coating goes on?
Usually, yes. A coating locks in whatever's underneath it — including swirl marks, fine scratches, and water spots. We assess the paint at intake and recommend a single- or multi-stage correction so the surface is as clean and clear as possible before the coating bonds.
How long does a ceramic coating job take?
Entry-tier coatings on a clean vehicle can be done in 1–2 days. Mid-tier with correction runs 2–4 days. Pro-tier with multi-stage correction and add-ons (glass coating, wheel faces) runs 3–5 days. We confirm a timeline once we've looked at the paint.
Can you coat a vinyl wrap or a car that already has PPF?
Yes to both. Ceramic over a wrap protects the film and adds gloss, especially on satin and matte. Ceramic over PPF gives the film the same hydrophobic surface as the rest of the panel and helps it shed contaminants. We do this combination often, since wraps, PPF, and ceramic are all in-house services.
How do I care for a ceramic-coated vehicle?
Two-bucket hand washes with a pH-neutral soap, a clean microfiber drying towel, and no automated brush washes. Avoid washing in direct sun, and rinse off bird droppings and bug splatter sooner rather than later. We send every customer home with care instructions and product recommendations.
Is ceramic coating worth it on an older or used car?
Often, yes — once the paint has been corrected. Coating an older car can take a finish that looks tired and bring real depth and gloss back, then protect it from getting worse. We'll be straight with you at intake if a coating is or isn't the right call for the vehicle in front of us.
